Free courses and affordable certification for all those wishing to upgrade their knowledge and achieve successful professional realization

In Bulgaria, more than 25,000 people have benefited from the initiative

In crisis situations such as the one that followed the Covid-19 pandemic, technology leaders are expected to act as an engine for positive change. Over the years, Microsoft’s commitment to breaking the digital barrier and creating equal opportunities has always been clear and backed by action. Unfortunately, Covid-19 deepened inequality and, in addition to severe health consequences, led to an economic crisis.

With the establishment of the “new normal”, questions such as: how society will move forward and manage to preserve basic human values such as mutual aid and empathy, what professional and personal skills must be developed and will be necessary for successful professional realization are becoming more and more relevant. Moreover, which are the roles that may not have received enough attention so far, but are crucial to our survival as a community, how to get support to the people who need it most and how to have equal access to educational resources online.

This is a long-term program that focuses on achieving positive and sustainable results. It continues to develop and is successful in our country, as more than 25 000 people have already benefited from it.

At the announcement of the initiative, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella mentioned that digital skills will be needed in all professional fields and by 2030 about 800 million people will have to acquire new digital skills. About 149 million new technological jobs are expected to be created in the next 5 years. They will mainly be in the field of software development, machine learning and information security.

The initiative is implemented through two main channels – LinkedIn Learning and Microsoft Learn. LinkedIn Learning is an online learning platform with a library of 16,000+ courses covering current professional topics taught by experts. For those who want to acquire more in-depth technical skills, there are courses from Microsoft Learn | Microsoft Docs. Microsoft Learn provides knowledge of Microsoft products and technologies required for specific technical positions. It was originally created to help Microsoft customers and partners master the company’s technology. The modules are tailored to different technical levels and positions – from business user to IT administrator and programmer. Everyone can follow their own pace of perception, and have the opportunity to practice what they have learned in the GitHub Learning Lab.

The provided opportunities for training and certification are suitable not only for people who want to change their professional path, but also for those who want to continue to build their own skills or the competencies of their team.

For example, Vihren Slavchev, co-founder and CEO of Mnemonica AD, an established Bulgarian company with more than 10 years of expertise in information security, shares: “Mnemonica has been a silver partner of Microsoft for years. It is important for me to develop as a team and to constantly upgrade our skills. Two of my colleagues are currently in the process of being certified as Azure Experts. I believe that the new knowledge will help us offer our customers even better services in providing their cyber security in the Azure environment. There are three main directions in which we have set a goal to develop, and I think that the acquired Microsoft certification will be useful for us. They are related to offering solutions for the modern workplace, cloud technologies and efficiency (Cloud & Productivity), analysis of large volumes of data (Data analytics).
